Meet our Award Winning

Interviewers & Storytellers

Meet Steve Holloway

Steve is the co-host of New Zealand's most popular long-form podcast Between Two Beers, a former sports journalist, professional poker player and father of four. Steve honed the art of the interview across 12 years at the NZ Herald, where he was the Premium Sports Editor.

Three years ago, Steve recorded a 90-minute conversation with his father, Bruce, asking him all the questions about his life that he'd always wanted to know. That chat planted a seed, which grew into the Reflections business - and Steve predicts one day that conversation will be his most valuable possession.

Meet Seamus Marten

Before finding his feet as a podcaster, Seamus (the other half of Between Two Beers) was a former All Whites team manager who's worked for FIFA, the Oceania Football Confederation and New Zealand Football across the last 15 years. He's also one of NZ's top football commentators and regularly calls Wellington Phoenix, Auckland FC and All Whites matches for Sky TV.

Seamus lost his father at an early age, and treasures all the bits and pieces of his story left behind - but wishes there were more. He is inspired by storytelling that celebrates life.

Meet Suzanne McFadden

Suzanne is an award-winning journalist who has written in the New Zealand media for over three decades, specialising in capturing the essence of people and sport. She's also a book author, podcaster, mother of two, nanna, bird stalker and sunset capturer.

In 2021, Suzanne was named New Zealand Sports Journalist of the Year, and was a finalist in the Women of Influence Awards. She was a regular contributing writer to Newsroom.co.nz at its inception in early 2017, before becoming the foundation editor of LockerRoom, a section within Newsroom dedicated solely to women’s sport in 2018. Suzanne's perfect blend of curiosity, courage, warmth and empathy makes her a world-class interviewer.

Meet Mark Stafford

Mark is one of New Zealand's most popular radio hosts. He's perhaps best known as the former face of the TAB, where he spent two decades as a bookmaker and broadcaster and also hosted the long-form podcast Staf Chat. He's one of the most popular guests to feature on the Between Two Beers podcast where he vulnerably shared the real story of his rollercoaster life.

Mark is an exceptional long-form interviewer that has the treasured knack of quickly forming deep connections with his guests. He's the perfect fit for the Reflections space.

We believe the past should be

a gift, not a mystery

We’re all on life's conveyor belt. And we're all a bit bloody fascinating. But currently - unless a family really has its act together - it's only the stories of the famous that endlessly stay around.

‘Dying and disappearing’ is more than a bit disappointing for the rest of us.

Wisdom, laughter, and eyebrow-raising tales that should have been passed down, dissolve into vague recollections. Or, worse, they disappear completely. The magic of life is in the detail, the personality and the stories. And too often it’s lost.

We believe the past should be a gift, not a mystery.

And with modern capabilities, allowing our family histories to fade into silence is a tragedy we no longer have to accept.

So we created Reflections as a way to help Kiwi families honour the past, enrich the present, and have a sense of peace about the future. Because far too many of us have been silently slipping away.
